Marysville City Council voted unanimously for a six-month pause on land use and permit applications for data centers. City code did not define data centers. The city will use the time to finish its water and sewer plans and rate studies and draft rules. Servers that are a small part of another business are not covered.

⏸️ Pause on new data centers · Snohomish County

Snohomish County Council voted unanimously for a six-month emergency pause on new or bigger data centers in unincorporated areas (Emergency Ordinance 26-026). It covers sites planned to use 2 megawatts or more. It does not apply inside cities. A hearing was held Aug. 19; most speakers asked for a full ban. The council can renew it in six-month steps.
