⏸️ Pause on new data centers · Skagit County

Skagit County commissioners voted unanimously for a six-month pause on data center permit applications in unincorporated areas, citing farmland, floods and summer water shortages. It covers buildings over 2,000 square feet or 2 megawatts. All 11 residents who spoke at the July 14 hearing supported it. A 2026 planning proposal would make limits permanent.
