πŸ“œ Data center rules Β· Tooele County

Tooele County is writing a new chapter of its land use code for data centers (TCLUO 2026-100). On Aug 12, 2026 dozens of residents asked the planning commission for a ban or long pause instead. The commission tabled the rules to add public comments. The county says it will not consider any data center application until the rules pass; they were expected at the planning commission in October and the County Council in November 2026. A data center is part of a Utah Inland Port Authority project area near I-80 exit 88.

Big data centers need a lot of power. Who pays for new power lines depends on state rules. See the rules in Utah.
