⏸️ Pause on new data centers
Clearfield's city council unanimously passed a temporary rule (Ordinance 2026-13) that pauses building, expanding or dividing land for new data centers for up to 180 days. Staff had a pending request to decide if a data center fits the M-1 zone at the Freeport Center (Building J8). The mayor said the size of the Stratos project in Box Elder County set off the concern.
