White County Commission passed a ban on data centers with no end date. The county has no zoning. Leaders cited power, water, noise and wildlife worries. In August the county executive said a proposed site was moving ahead anyway and he was looking at legal options.

⏸️ Pause on new data centers · Sparta
Sparta's board passed on final reading a 180-day pause on new data center development (Ordinance 26-1-0-3) while it reviews zoning rules. The pause covers the area the city zones, including its planning area outside city limits.
