St. Joseph (about 790 people) passed on first reading a ban on data centers, AI computing sites and crypto mines in city limits (Ordinance 2026-0707). A public hearing and final vote were still needed.

Lawrence County Commission voted 13-5 to table (set aside) a one-year data center pause. Some commissioners said the county has no zoning, so a pause could not be enforced. Thousands of residents had signed a petition for a pause.

✅ Approved · Lawrenceburg

Lawrenceburg's planning commission unanimously approved site plans for a 4.9-megawatt data center on Flatwoods Road with closed-loop cooling. It goes to the city council next. More than 7,000 people signed a petition asking for a pause, and residents are raising money for a lawyer.
