Knox County Commission voted 10-0 to pause new data centers in the parts of the county outside Knoxville for one year, until June 30, 2027. Commissioners can end it early if the county writes rules for data centers. The resolution (R26-6-904) went to the Knoxville-Knox County Planning Commission, which recommended approval on Aug. 13, 2026; it came back to the County Commission for a first reading on Sept. 21, 2026.
