βš–οΈ Court case

ExoticRidge, a crypto mining company that wanted to build an 8-megawatt bitcoin mine near Bulls Gap, sued Hawkins County in federal court over its ban on data centers and crypto mines. The Beacon Center, a conservative legal group, says the ban is unfair and was passed without proper notice. The county says it will fight the case.

🚫 Ban

Hawkins County Commission banned new data centers and crypto mines in the parts of the county outside cities. The vote was 12-0, with two members absent. Cointelegraph reports the commission voted 12-0 again on a later July 28 to keep the ban instead of a proposed settlement that would have let the mine run with noise limits. A crypto mining company is suing over the ban.
