Prometheus Hyperscale plans a 1.25-gigawatt data center on about 640 acres, plus about 300 acres for a gas power plant, southeast of Casper. It says it would use little water. The county has not voted on any permit.
Where things stand: Company presented plans to county commissioners in September 2026. No permit yet.

On April 21, 2026, county commissioners passed a resolution to set up industrial parks that could skip the state siting review. On May 19 they took it back after the state Attorney General's office said a county without zoning can't do this. The county has no land zoning.
