Google 'Project Tembo' data center campus south of Cheyenne (formerly Project Jade)
Also called: Project Jade, Project Tembo, Crusoe Cheyenne, BFC Power and Cheyenne Power Hub (power plant)
A huge AI data center campus planned on ranch land south of Cheyenne, near the Colorado line. Google now owns it. It would use 2.7 gigawatts of power at first and could grow to 10 gigawatts. A new gas and fuel-cell power plant is being built next to it.
Where things stand: County approved site plans in January 2026. Google took over from Crusoe in mid-2026. A changed site plan went to a county hearing on Aug. 13, 2026.
🕒 Latest update (Aug 13, 2026): Laramie County Commission hearing on the changed permit was scheduled.

🔎 What we checked
- Oct 8, 2026: We checked 2025 satellite images (Sentinel-2) and older USGS images: they show grassland with an electric substation at the north-west corner of the section. The images predate the start of work, so the site was confirmed from the county site plan instead.
