Proposed
Savannah River Site AI data center and energy project
Also called: SRS AI Data Center
The federal government wants to lease land at the Savannah River Site for a 1,000-megawatt AI data center with its own power plant. The plant would burn natural gas at first and later move to nuclear. A lease is still being negotiated.
Where things stand: The U.S. Energy Department picked Amentum in July 2026 to negotiate a lease. No lease is signed yet.
๐ Latest update (July 21, 2026): The National Nuclear Security Administration chose an Amentum-led group, with DC BLOX, to negotiate a phased lease for a 1-gigawatt AI data center at the Savannah River Site.
