Amazon is building a $3 billion data center campus on the west side of Sidney. The city gave it a 30-year property tax break. Residents say they learned of it only after deals were signed, and worry about their shared water supply.

The Ohio Supreme Court ruled on September 3, 2026 that Sidney had to send citizen charter petitions to the elections board. One of three proposed charter changes would set zoning rules for data centers. If the signatures are valid, voters will decide in a special election. An Amazon data center is under construction in Sidney.
