Houston-based Strata Expanse is building a small AI data center near Hanging Rock that it says will run on its own hydrogen, gas and solar power. It was announced with no public hearing, and thousands signed petitions against it. The company has shared few numbers on power or water.
Where things stand: Ribbon cutting Dec. 19, 2025; crews were setting up the first hydrogen-powered units.
