Greenidge runs a gas power plant and bitcoin mine on Seneca Lake. The company says it wants to turn the site into an AI data center and has asked the grid operator for 200 MW more power. No town application has been reported.
Where things stand: Company plans to shift its bitcoin mine at the gas plant to AI computing; it has a proposed 60 MW grid deal and a 200 MW grid study under way.

What happened so far
- March 5, 2026Greenidge said it got approval for 60 MW of steady grid power at Dresden and started a NYISO study for 200 MW more, for AI/computing data centers. It also settled its long fight with DEC over the plant's air permit.
- May 18, 2026Greenidge said NYSEG sent a proposed grid deal for 60 MW at Dresden.
