Atterix data center (former Kmart, Raton)
A Colorado company wants to turn an empty Kmart in Raton into a data center, starting at up to 5 MW and growing to up to 50 MW at other sites in town. Many residents oppose it. The city has not approved construction.
Where things stand: City signed a study agreement (MOU) in Feb. 2026; the six-month study was due in August. Any building needs more city votes.
π Latest update (June 2026): The commission again put off a vote on a data center moratorium.
