Beltline Energy plans a $16 billion data center campus with 16 buildings on about 495 acres of the Crooked Creek farm south of Pacific, along the Meramec River. The county planning board said no, but the County Commission approved the rezoning on Sept. 15, 2026. State wildlife staff flagged bald eagles, bats and hellbenders near the site.
Where things stand: County commissioners approved the rezoning on Sept. 15, 2026, even though the planning commission had recommended denial. Beltline dropped its separate request with the City of Pacific in August.

County commission voted to rezone farmland to industrial for two big data centers: Gateway Digital Campus near Villa Ridge and Beltline's Meramec Valley Technology Park south of Pacific. The planning commission had backed the first and opposed the second.
βΈοΈ Pause on new data centers
Pacific's council voted 4-0 to stop taking applications for data centers of any size for 12 months, to study land use and talk with the community. Three days later Beltline Energy withdrew its city rezoning request.
