Developer Wixom Industrial One sued Wixom in federal court. It says the city broke state zoning law by pausing data centers and writing rules that would block its 54-acre project north of I-96, on land already zoned for it.

Wixom reportedly ended its pause early and adopted strict data center rules: a 1,500-foot buffer from homes, schools and parks, no use of well water, and required sound studies.
