Proposed
Oakland University campus data center
Oakland University is studying a small data center on campus, built and run by Fairmount Properties. It would use about 20 to 26 megawatts from a nearby substation, about 2% of a large hyperscale center. Groundbreaking could be 18 to 24 months after approval.
Where things stand: Trustees voted in June 2026 to start a one-year study (due diligence) with Fairmount Properties.
๐ Latest update (June 2026): Board of trustees voted to move the project into a due diligence phase.
