The county council voted 7-0 to ban data centers in every zoning district (Bill 26-011). County Executive Bob Cassilly signed it on June 10, 2026. Harford was the first Maryland county to ban data centers.

A council member proposed a 180-day pause on data center approvals (Bill 26-005). It was withdrawn after the county executive proposed a full ban instead.
