DECA data center on Sharon Road (east of Ghent)

DECA Companies proposes a $4 billion data center on Sharon Road east of Ghent. It promises 300 permanent jobs and about $40 million a year in local taxes, mostly for schools. It says it would use closed-loop cooling and pay for its own power upgrades. The county held a public forum on it.
Where things stand: Carroll County Fiscal Court signed a letter on June 24, 2026 supporting DECA's request for state tax breaks. No zoning approval reported yet.
