Karis Critical data center at former Lucent campus (Naperville)
Karis Critical wanted a 145,000-square-foot data center next to homes on the old Lucent campus. Neighbors worried about power use, noise and diesel generator fumes. The developer offered to cut generators from 24 to 12, but the city said no.

City council voted 6-1 (two abstained) to deny a special permit for a Karis Critical data center on about 41 acres at 1960 Lucent Lane. The plan commission had recommended approval. More than 5,000 people signed a petition against it.
