NextNRG land near Jacksonville airport (Nassau County)

The county says no one has applied, and the company now says it has no data center plan to announce. The county paused data center applications for one year in June 2026.

What happened so far
- Sept 22, 2025NextNRG announced a long-term lease option on 1,600 acres in Nassau County. It said about 400 acres are ideal for a very large data center, built in 50 MW steps.
- April 13, 2026After the announcement, county commissioners asked the county attorney to write a one-year pause on data centers. The county said it knew nothing about the project beyond the press release.
- June 1, 2026NextNRG told Action News Jax there is still no data center plan to announce.
- June 8, 2026Nassau County commissioners approved a 12-month pause on data center applications in unincorporated areas.

County commissioners passed a pause of up to 12 months on data center rezonings, site plans and other applications in unincorporated Nassau County (Ordinance 2026-044). The county also set up a fact-finding committee to study data centers.
