Charter Development data center site off Barnes Road
Also called: Wallingford Data Center Development, 677 Williams Road
A developer got Wallingford to allow data centers in a zone that protects the Muddy River water supply. It wants to build on wooded land off Barnes Road but has no tenant yet. Any data center would still need a special permit.
Where things stand: Zoning text change allowing data centers (with a special permit) passed in December 2024. No special permit application found.
π Latest update (Dec 9, 2024): Wallingford Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4-1 to allow data centers in the Watershed Interchange zone by special permit, capped at 250,000 sq ft per lot and 400,000 sq ft in the whole zone.
