Terra Energy Center campus at Port MacKenzie (seeking data center tenants)
Also called: Terra Energy Center Campus, Terra Energy Center Corp.
Terra Energy wants to build a coal power plant in the Mat-Su and is looking for a big power customer, such as a data center, for an industrial campus at Port MacKenzie. The borough agreed to help market its land but did not promise to sell or lease it or allow a data center. No data center company has been named.
Where things stand: Mat-Su Assembly approved a 2-year marketing partnership in March 2026 (over the mayor's veto). No data center company is signed.
๐ Latest update (May 2026): Terra Energy signed a 20-year lease for 829 acres of University of Alaska land at Port MacKenzie. Building would start in 2029.
