Middletown Township introduced Ordinance 2026-3536 to ban data centers in every zoning district. A public hearing and final vote were set for Sept. 21, 2026. We could not confirm the final vote.

Howell's council voted unanimously to change the zoning code and ban data centers in every district. The ordinance was introduced on July 14.

Holmdel's committee unanimously made data centers a prohibited use. But a 40 MW data center application at Bell Works was filed on July 24, before the final vote, and the township attorney said it will be judged under the old rules.

Neptune Township voted to ban data centers, including large AI data centers, in the township. The same ordinance also bans immigration detention (ICE) facilities.

Manalapan introduced Ordinance 2026-09 to remove data centers as an allowed use in the C-3, SED-5, SED-20, SED-20/W and OP zones while the township studies their impacts. Final vote was set for Aug. 12, 2026. We did not confirm the final vote.
