⏸️ Pause on new data centers · Minneapolis
The Minneapolis City Council first voted for the pause on May 21, 2026, and news reports say it approved the ordinance on June 25. It pauses new or bigger data centers for about six months while the city studies energy, water, noise and safety. Smaller data centers (under 350,000 square feet) downtown can still go ahead. The council can review it by Nov. 21, 2026.
