Saginaw City Council unanimously adopted permanent data center rules. Data centers are a special land use in industrial areas, must stay 500 feet from homes, and must report on water, noise, heat and shutdown plans. In effect Oct. 9, 2026.

Chesaning Township banned new data center permits, siting and approvals for 12 months from May 18, 2026, or until the ordinance is repealed. It can be extended.
