Saco City Council extended its data center pause by 60 days, to Nov. 28, 2026. Staff are studying noise, heat, water, roads and other effects. No data center has been proposed.

🚫 Ban · Biddeford

Biddeford is moving to ban new data centers citywide. In June the City Council voted 8-1 to send the change to the planning board. On Sept. 2, the planning board unanimously recommended the ban. A second reading was set for Oct. 7, then a final council vote.

🚫 Ban · North Berwick

North Berwick's Select Board chose not to pass a pause. Instead, voters will decide in November on a zoning change to ban data centers of 25,000 sq ft or more.

Sanford City Council unanimously voted for a new 180-day data center pause that replaces the first one. It now ends Jan. 31, 2027. A city task force is reviewing rules for big industrial projects.

Sanford City Council unanimously passed a 91-day emergency pause on large data center permits. It stopped work on the Sanford Woods campus plan near the Mousam River. A resident group had brought the draft wording to the council.
