Local votes and rules
🗳️ Public vote
Voters will decide on Nov. 3, 2026 whether to ban 'high-impact' data centers and large battery storage in El Dorado for 10 years. The city commission voted 5-0 to put it on the ballot after a judge ruled the citizen petition was valid.
⚖️ Court case
The city asked a court to rule that a citizen petition (about 700 signatures) to ban data centers and battery storage could not go to voters. A judge ruled on Aug. 21, 2026 that the petition is 'legislative', so it is valid.
