City commissioners approved a one-year pause on new large data center proposals after two public hearings. They first backed the idea unanimously in July. Existing buildings and routine maintenance are not affected.

County commissioners approved a six-month pause on data centers that need about 5 megawatts of power or more in unincorporated Bay County. Staff will review the county's land rules; the pause could be extended six more months.

City council members agreed they want to keep data centers out and preferred a permanent ban over a pause. An ordinance must still be written and approved. We did not find a final vote.
