Longmont City Council voted 6-1 to limit how much power a data center may use: no more than 5% of the area's grid capacity or 100 megawatts, whichever is lower. This blocks very large (hyperscale) data centers. None was proposed in Longmont.

Boulder County commissioners voted unanimously to stop accepting planning applications for data centers (and detention centers) in unincorporated areas for up to six months while they change the land use code. Commissioners said a full ban may be needed.
