City Council voted 7-0 to add 10 changes to its June data center rules: stronger noise limits, limits on water and energy use, and bigger penalties. Data centers must follow city wastewater rules and use batteries, not generators, as main backup power. Expanding needs a permit change. No data center runs in Fayetteville now.

City Council unanimously passed data center rules: water and power impact reports, setbacks, buffers, generator rules and a conditional use review before approval. The city also now needs the mayor and city attorney to approve before it signs any secret deal (NDA).
